I was told
that there was a girl complaining to her father for the misfortune of
her inexperienced life; she didn’t know how to go on.
She was tired of striving in vain; once she sorted out a problem, another
one came out.
Her father was a chef and a man of few words. After hearing his daughter’s
complaints, he filled three pots with water and put them on the fire.
They quickly boiled . He put carrots in one of them, eggs in the other
one and beans of coffee in the last one.
The girl was confused about the action of her father. Twenty minutes
later her father turned off the fire. He pulled the carrots out of the
pot and put them in a bowl; he did the same with the eggs and lastly
he put the coffee in another bowl.
Then he asked:
- What do you see?
–“ Carrots, eggs and coffee”, was her immediate answer.
The father asked the girl to touch the carrots. She did it and observed
that the carrots were soft. Then he asked her to take the eggs and when
cracking the shell , she realized that the eggs were hard. Then he asked
her to taste the coffee and when testing it she realized its aroma.
And the
young girl asked : What do you mean by that?
He explained
that the three elements have phased the same adversity: the boiling
water. However, each element responded in a different way.
The carrot
gave away its hardness for softness; the egg changed fragility for firmness;
only the beans of coffee could transform the colour and the taste of
the water.
Her father added:
- “Tell me my dear, when the adversity knocks your door, How will
you phase it? Will you be a carrot, an egg or a bean of coffee?
How many people who boast about their hardness, and then give away before
a setback…! Others, unexpectedly even though they seem to be weak,
get stronger when phasing a conflict, however only a few manage to overcome
the pain caused by a conflict with a positively, unexpected and harmonious
reaction.
In stead of cursing the temperature of the water, we could analyse our
answers.
The aroma of the good coffee impregnates, it is unmistakable, clear,
and always welcomed.
